This is a collection of tips and advice on how to use tools. It will probably grow exponentially as time goes on.

Best way I have found to teach someone how to swing a hammer is to put it in their hand. Then have them hit a soft pine board. Control is not about power make sure they aren’t trying to break the board. If the dint they leave is at and angle or looks like a half moon then their grip is not hard enough or their wrist is turning as they swing. Keep swinging until you leave flat marks. Don’t leave the board on a flat surface level. It should be at an angle like braced on a brick or on at a 90, you need to learn to swing the head so it lands flat at any angle so change it up as you learn. Drills can be very hard to drill in straight. I find holding it still and quickly looking at the side then the top for accuracy is a good way to get it close. Another tip is keep a second bit of the one you are using to slide the back of it in the hole after just starting the hole then looking at it from all angles to get and idea of how far off you are.
